The gallery was initially opened in 1994. It was a project of the then Minister of National Development Lim Hng Kiang. The first exhibition housed in the gallery was entitled ‘A look at Singapore’. It underwent a series of renovations until it achieved what it is today.

A Brush with History
This architectural model of the Central area is being updated from time to time to reflect the changes in the city and is one of the largest of its kind. It is like looking at the actual Singapore Central Area from the top because of its realistic finish.
You think you’ve seen enough? Singapore City Gallery also has an island-wide model that shows the entire island in finer details. With the help of 3D printers, the buildings and geographical details of the island were better replicated for a more realistic look. For complete innovation of the model, it is also accompanied by projection mapping to show landmarks around the city and Singapore’s urban planning strategies.
The Singapore City Gallery is located at 45 Maxwell Road, The URA Centre, near the CBD and Chinatown. You can get there by a bus or by the MRT.
Singapore City Gallery offers free admission. It’s a good way to start your Singapore trip here and get to know the city without spending.
It’s open from 9 am-5 pm daily and is closed on Sundays and Holidays.
